Pathway to ELITE’s NZDB programme (Level 6) Academic Pathway ELITE USA Transfer
Continue to study New Zealand Diploma in Business (NZDB, Level 6). It takes another 9 months. 1. You may be able to transfer up to 60 credits towards a Bachelor Degree programme offered at a university in New Zealand (at the discretion of the university). Students graduating with the MFH Diploma in Business and Management from Elite Management School are eligible to transfer 120 credits to our partner in San Francisco, USA. Study for three further years to complete a US Bachelor Degree.

Who Should Enrol?

  • High school graduates who want to obtain an entry-level tertiary business qualification; and,
  • want to build a solid foundation for academic excellence; and,
  • are interested in potentially transferring up to 75 credits and continuing to study at a university in New Zealand; and,
  • are interested in meeting the entry criteria for our NZDB Level 6 programme.

Entry Requirement

Applicants may be interviewed to assess their suitability for the programme. They must be:

  • at least 18 years old; and,
  • an overseas high school graduate, or,
  • studying at a New Zealand high school, and are expecting to gain the following NCEA credits:
  • 50 NCEA credits at Level 2 or above, with at least 12 credits in each of three subjects
  • Literacy: 8 credits at Level 2 or above, made up of 4 credits in reading and 4 credits in writing
  • Numeracy: 14 numeracy credits at Level 1 or above

International students must have:

  • IELTS proficiency level in Academic English at a 5.5 level with no band score lower than 5.0 OR
  • TOEFL paper-based (pBT) 525 (with an essay score of 4.5 TWE) ToEFL computer-based (iBT) 46 (with a writing score of 20) OR
  • Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE, with a score of 162. No less than 154 in each skill. OR OET at Grade C in all sub-tests OR
  • Pearson (Academic) PToE score of 42 OR
  • NZCEL Level 3 with the Academic endorsement OR
  • City & Guilds IESOL B2 Communicator with a score of 42 OR

EMS provides NZQA approved alternative internal English proficiency assessments to eligible applicants.

Programme Aim

This programme aims to develop students’ general business skills, knowledge and competence to undertake business operations working under supervision. Students normally complete the Level 5 programme and then progress to the New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 6).

Programme Structure

Students must complete six compulsory core papers:

  2. 510   Introduction to Commercial Law
  3. 530   Organisations and Management
  4. 541   Fundamentals of Marketing
  5. 550   Business Computing
  6. 560   Business Communication

Intake Schedule for the 2018 academic year

We have three intakes in a year. Our “intake clock” defines clearly the delivery activities we take in each week. It ensures that you are in control of your learning progression or any catch-up required. By following our intake schedule, most of the learners will be able to complete our Diploma Level 5 programme within 9 months.

Immigration New Zealand Work Rights

International students are required to hold a valid Immigration New Zealand Student visa. Our Diploma Level 5 students will be:

  • eligible to work part-time up to 20 hours per week and full-time work during scheduled vacations while studying
